We listen, act, and transform
I have a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a concentration in Gestalt Therapy, and a Bachelor's degree in English. My certifications include: Evidence Based Practice and Systemic Family Constellations Facilitator. I have also been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Somatic Experiencing (SE).
I have experience working with female adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders in residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient settings. Over the past 5 years I have been working in private practice settings in close collaboration with a psychiatrist treating adolescents and young adults.
For the past 14 years I have been heavily involved in the female fitness industry, working with women from age 18 to 70. I am especially passionate about teaching pole dance. I am a certified pole dance instructor with experience teaching various styles from intro level to advanced. One of my strengths as an instructor and as a therapist is my awareness and ability to help others become more self aware of their mind and body. When we are aware of what our bodies are doing and how our minds are working, then we have an opportunity for greater, overall wellness.
I have seen the powerful impact it's had on women and it energizes my soul. It motivated me to begin doing research about pole dance in the mental health field and to create my own program combining pole dance with therapeutic interventions.
